Which shocks for GS1100 swingarm conversion? was created by Kapahulu
I bought a GS1100 swingarm and am wondering what shocks to get for mounting it on my KZ1000? I want to keep the stock ride height and don't know if stock GS1100 shocks will do that.
Looking through the older posts I see GS1100 and Gold Wing shocks being used, not much discussion on ride height though.
Thanks, Mike

Mike, My experiance is that with 19/18 inch wheels and stock front end, 14 1/2" eye clevis shocks will put your frame level (as per stock)with the GS s/a. Whatever your' choice for shocks consider, Quality, Age, & adjustability... I favor Ohlins piggybacks, They're rebuildable, tuneable, and Imediatly recoginizable eye candy (which in turn draws attention to the S/A) Just my 2 c... G

Gane,
Thanks for the tip. I will pass on the Ohlins due to $$$. Maybe some progressives 14 inch will do the job.
Aloha,Mike

Don,
How's the ride height with the Gold Wing shocks? Or maybe if you can tell us what the eye to eye length of your shocks are?

The GS1100 swingarm uses a clevis mount shock, ZRX shocks won't work for this application.KZ250LTD wrote: Myself and other members have had luck with KYB shocks off of ZRX 1100's and 1200's. They can usually be had for $300-500 on ebay and I believe they are about 14" from eye to eye

FYI, I picked up a set of S&W's for a CB750 on e-bay. They look to be about 13.5 to 14 inches eye to eye.
When I get the swingarm mounted I'll update this post.
