I am installing a new 630 chain on my 83 GPz750. The Service Manual does not state how many links, so I went to the Kaw Dealer fiche and it showed 94 links. I cut the chain to 94 and installed it. The snail adjuster is almost all the way out with a brand new chain. Does it actually take 92? Should I count the teeth on the rear sprocket first? Perhaps it has been regeared? Grr.

Z1E indicates 88 links.

And could also check here:
kz.bike-night.com/
Scroll down to "The Bible" for a down-loadable service manual (which if a different manual might specify number of links).
Would also check size of the counter shaft (front) sprocket, compared to stock.
Good Fortune!

Thanks Patton. My bike's designation is actually a ZX750A-1, the first Uni-Trac rear. I followed your link to find my bike, and they also list 94 links:

I guess it is time to start counting teeth.

Well, the gearing is stock. Not sure what is going on, but I will start cutting off links until it fits correctly. Thanks again patton.
