wondering if these forks would work on a 1983 gpz 550, if not are there any suggestions to make it as painless as possible, i'm going to buy the forks and have a local shop install them.....so obviously the less fabrication that is involved the cheaper it will be, thanks!!

heres a crappy cellphone pic of my bike, and by the way, the initial reason i am looking into swapping the forks is because the current ones are badly pitted and leak oil even after a seal and bushing change

if you can't get some conversion bearings from all balls you will have to do a stem swap and then you just use the factory gpz bearings.

i have the same front end that i am currently converting for my z1r.i am swapping the stem for a kz stem.

but i had to be a smartaleck and use a r1 front wheel so it would match my rear wheel.which adds even more headaches :pinch: .

awesome, so if i use the gpz stem i wouldn't have to source any other parts other than that front end, and a wheel correct?

yes if you re-use the gpz stem then you buy replacement bearings and bolt it on just like it was the gpz frontend.

What size bearings would I need? And where is a good place to buy them.....actually I checked out all balls but I'm a little confused as to which kz 550 model corresponds to the gpz 550 a,c,f or h???

Are you planning on getting a wheel from the GSXR also? Not sure how much more work it will create to try and use your existing hub/axle/brakes/wheel... The GSXR wheel/hub/axle/brake combo would make the swap easier, I would think.

But Leon and others would know better than me.
