KZ550 LTD Clutch Cable with Superbike Handlebar was created by Johnny NoPants
I replaced the handlebar on my 81 KZ550 LTD with a Superbike handlebar. My clutch cable is now a nightmare to route and keep out of the front wheel. I have heard that a GPz clutch cable is the solution. Which year cable is right for this application, and will it be a direct replacement? I noticed, from pictures, that the GPz cable is significantly different from my LTD cable.

If you look up the replacement cable for your original clutch cable at Z1Enterprises, you will see a recommendation for a shorter replacement cable. Or a longer recommendation replacement cable as well for people that require that solution. The Z1Enterprises cables that I received were also motion Pro. Good luck.

Disconnect the cable at the lever, then position it & figure out the overage. When the position looks about right, I would tape it securely to the bars, then turn the handlebars front from side to side to make sure there is no binding or anything. Remove the cable from the bike & measure it ... subtract the overage, then get one made or find one at Z1... cables there have the measurements.

Yes, Motion Pro can make the clutch cable any length you want. BUT order as soon as possible. This mild winter has really ramped up business for them and they are on a backlog.
