82 KZ1000 Rear 18" spoke wheel?

I've searched arounf the site and haven't found anything to give me a difinitive answer, so I figure I will just ask.

Is there an 18" wire spoke wheel that would be a direct mount up to my bike? I'm sure I could probably get an 18" rim and spokes and lace up to my hub, but I'm trying to avoid that if at all possible. I would like to find one from an old bike that would be a direct fit or could be modified to fit without too much headache.I should be getting my new hardtail pretty soon so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

OK so a little more specific......I found a rear 18" for a 77 KZ1000. Will it fit on my 82?

Nevermind......I compared the pics to mine and I came up with a resounding NO!!

So anybody have any other ideas?

Why wont it? I am not that versed in the subtle differences between the models but it's just a wheel you said modified to fit with little or no headache whats so different? is yours a shafty?

Just to confirm --- Is the objective to replace the oem 16" spoke rear wheel with an 18" spoke rear wheel?

Seems unusual in that most conversions to hardtail involve more rear-end rubber.

Is that 1 of them weird 44 or 48 spoke aluminum rims?

Put a 5" Harley wheel on it with 5/8 offset sprocket.

It is a chain drive. I'm talking about going from the stock 82 wire spoke wheel (not the mag spoke), but I don't know the spoke count. It appeared as though the older wheels have a different mount for the disc. I'm new to the KZ so I'm not sure if the older KZs have a disc or do they have drums. I suppose as long as I got another disc along with the older wheel then there really wouldn't be any issue. I'm assuming they use the same size axle. I will be fabbing my own mounts for the caliper anyway.

I doubt I will be putting any wheel that has the name Harley anywhere attached to it because I am on a tight budget and I don't like to pay twice what something is worth just because it will fit on a Harley. Just saying....

Also the reason for going from a 16" to an 18" is because I am going for more of an old board tracker look with both front and rear being the same size. I'm trying to get the wheel figured out because it will be how I figure out the rest of the dimensions on my bike before I can weld up the new tail.

Below is an example of the geometry I'm going for. Maybe a little bit cleaner though...and a little less British. lol

Is the oem 19" spoke front wheel still fitted?

Am a little out of my league here, but might it be feasible to use the entire spoke wheel and drum brake rear end from an earlier 18" wire spoke model?

Yes I will still be using the OEM front wheel. I did think about getting an old drum brake wheel since it would give it a little more "old school" look, but I have a rear drum on my surrent bike and honestly I was looking forward to steeping up to a rear disc. They just stop so much better. At this point I'm thinking about just spending a day at the junkyard until I can find something that works. Surely I can come up with something.
