I have had some of these parts off and sitting for a year or two and now I noticed that my brake hose ends look to have old brake residue or rust in them. Is it OK to clean them up and use them?

If using a cleaning agent other than brake fluid, would avoid allowing any of it to get into the inside of the brake hose. And purge the hose interior with fresh brake fluid.
I use common household rubbing alcohol to clean brake master cylinder and caliper parts during the renovation process.
But if allowed to enter the brake hose, be sure to purge the hose with fresh clean brake fluid.

It's difficult to say without a picture, but nasty brake fittings and parts may often be restored to serviceable condition.badrhino wrote: I have had some of these parts off and sitting for a year or two and now I noticed that my brake hose ends look to have old brake residue or rust in them. Ok thanks, I just don't want to spend the money on all new lines when in the next year or so I would like to upgrade suspension front and rear.
The hoses and everything look fine they just had a rusty-ish looking residue inside the banjo fittings. My master cylinder was kinda funky also, but I got it cleaned up.
