Hey, I'm trying to replace my shocks. After removing my old shock (first attempt), the rubber bushing stayed on the mounting stud. Had to pry the rubber off and this is what's left. I think that bushing (I have the arrows pointing to it) shouldn't be there. But I want to confirm because its on there good and I will need to use heat or cut it off the stud. So before I do something and find out I shouldn't have I'm hoping someone can give me some confirmation.

Bushing is to come off, part of the shock itself... #22
Babbits

Same time, with your new shock (NON OEM) may not include bushings only internal rubber that slides onto frame stud... Washers/spacers may be required or leave the bushing on... Isn't fabbing fun...

I would leave it on there until I tried fitting my new shocks. You may find that you can simply slip the corresponding bushing out of the new shocks and slide them on no-muss-no-fuss, or you may even find that bushing was not supplied with the new shocks. Ed

Thanks Rock, Ed. The OEM shocks I got off a parts bike on ebay only have/came the rubber bushings so I wasn't sure. I will again try to slip on the OEM (ebay) shock over this existing metal bushing. But it sounds like from what both of you told me, the metal bushing should have come off. Thanks again.

Joe
