can i bring life back to my suspension? was created by cherokeekid58
Ok so i have a 1982 kz750 ltd and i have been bottoming out the suspension on these lovely PA back roads (yea right). I was wondering if there is a way to stiffin it or swap it out cheaply. Im about 214lbs. And it seems way softer than it should be. What psi should the front forks be at and do you fill them with air or nitrogen? And i have no clue what to do about the rear.

Cheers
Jason

Hahaha and i thought my JEEP addiction was bad; my Kz addiction is just as bad!!!

As to the shocks --
Could perhaps increase spring pre-load on the shocks.

As to the forks --
Would use a common hand operated bicycle pump to add air pressure to forks, which helps avoid blowing a seal. Using an air compressor may quickly and unintentionally inject too much pressure.

Could flush and replace the fork oil to proper specs (weight and volume), and perhaps change to a heavier weight fork oil.

Good Fortune! :)

When is the last time you changed the fork oil and what weight fork oil did you use? Do you own a manual for your bike? Ed

Wow i take a nap and i get 5+ responses lol. I have only owned the bike for 1 1/2 months now. Have not changed any of the oil or air in any of the shocks. The rear shock preload is turned up all the way. So how do you change the oil and or put air in? And same for the front?

Am thinking only the "Spectre" model 1982 KZ750 has air forks and air shocks.
And that the 1982 KZ750 LTD has non-air forks and non-air shocks.

 Am uncertain about which style forks and shocks are at hand.

Good Fortune! :)

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationYou need to buy one of the Kawasaki Service Manuals; it's a "must have." Here's one, there are others on eBay, just be sure to get one for your model because there are big differences between models. If yours is a 1982 KZ750 LTD 4 cylinder chain driven model it is a KZ750-H3. Ed
