I'm not sure if someone has already invented this wheel, but if they have, I'd really appreciate some shared information.

A guy calls me with a 1991 KZ1000-P10 Police bike. He thinks his fork gaiters are hideous. Can't say I blame him. ;)

He's looking to replace the gaiters with OE dust covers. Based on rudimentary measurements, we're thinking that the '81+ KZ1000 (J, K, M & others) dust covers may just fit the bill.

Can anyone confirm / deny this theory? If deny, then what?

Thanks in advance.

This just in!

You CAN replace those accordion style gaiters with OE dust covers!

I just sent a set of the later ('81+) KZ1000 dust covers to a guy in Florida with a '91 Police bike. Fit like a glove!

To use his words: "They look like they were made for it!" B)

According to Dutchz's build thread he turned a groove into normal legs to use police gaiters.

1980 (mostly) KZ1000

No worries.
Sometimes ya gotta do your own research!
But I figured if anybody knew, the experts at KZR would know!

Thank you, thank you.

Thanks for the information Bakes. I had posted the same question for that the same P10 and got no response. I had planned on just taking a chance when I got to that point.

No worries David1050.

Now you can order with a bit more confidence in the outcome. :)

Occasionally I get questions that I/we just can't answer and I typically default to the "experts" over here.

KZRider.com - an indispensible resource for the KZ owner. B)

Keep well, fellas!
