Big tires and front sprocket cover...

Curious about what you guys who have mounted a 180+ tire out back and used the stock counter-shaft sprocket cover. Did you have to modify the inside of the cover? Did you space it out any? Any pics. you can share? Did you use a 5/8" or 1/2" offset sprocket? Did you do anything to the rear wheel...modify the hub on a sportbike wheel or offset lace a wire wheel to move it to the right for clearance?

Good question R 54! I was thinking that also. I had that 77KZ1000 project I sold to a friend
I gave him a flat 5/8" offset 530 size sprocket and an extra cover to mock it up with.
You can only grind about 3/16" off. I would say some collar spacers and longer bolts.
Then you got to get into a longer clutch pushrod. Which the tips are hardened steel.
Probally need some drill rod.
Sure hope someone chimes in and with pictures.

Never thought about having to lengthen the clutch push-rod. I've seen where someone had to cut quite a bit off the back of the c/s cover so chain would clear but have seen a few where it didn't look like the cover was moved out or cut so that's why I was curious about how they did that.

with my 190 and 1/2" offset My 520 hit the counter sprocket cover ever so slightly just grabbed the die grinder and releave it about 1/2" where I saw the marks (from the chain rubbing)

I'm running 530 chain with about 9/16 offset sprocket, I had to cut out the back of the cover and cut the lip off around the back. I'm going to be in to it later in the week changing speed sensor so I'll post some pics of the modifications if needed. I also had to take a little off the rear sprocket carrier but don't remember the exact amount.

i have a 200 on my orange bike -- used a 5/8th offset on it that is 530 pitch - gsxr rear wheel that is close to 6" wide.none o ring chain the o ring chain is wider so you dont want to use one of them.you will need to notch the frame or heat it and flatten it where the chain rubs you will see where as you build this . also you will need to grind some of the inside of the cover.i put 2 little washers on all the bolts to space it out close to 1/8". when you look at the bike it looks stock. i had no problem with the clutch rod ?? i have a wide swingarm also so you have room to move around but my wheel is in the center no offset. i will take some pics when i get home. very easy to do.

Somewhere I seen where a guy spaced his cover out but a little more then 1/8th inch and made a spacer that followed the shape of the cover itself. Looked trick but bet he had a lot of time in that one little piece. Filled in along the whole top edge of the cover. Was there much difference in clearance between the 190 and 200 tire? I have a 190 but was thinking of getting the 180 for a little more clearance...not sure if it would be an issue though.
