GSXR Rims to Kz 1000 was created by 4TheKZ1000
Hello Im new to the forum. My name is Spencer and live in Cincinnati, Ohio. I ask the fourm for help on a rim swap issue.
I am building from the ground up a Kz 1000 street fighter bike. The frame is an 1978 A2A with a fully built 1980 Mark II 1000. I have swapped the factory swing arm for a purpose built KZ spec alum extended swing arm. I can fit a 150 tire on it. My problem starts with the factory spoke KZ front and rear rims. My front is bent and cant be used. Im now needing to spend money on a spoke rim I wish not return to. I would love to move to a mag wheel but KZ factory mags are 2.15 to a 3.0 width via the Z-1 rim. These rims cannot handle a 150 tire.
The Suzuki GSXR rims seem like an option. They look very sporty and come in all sizes and widths. A 18 x 4 up to a 5 would be fantastic. Some questions I have for the rear wheel are. Axle Shaft(DIA/size-lenght), Brake, Hub, swingarm spacing. Any help would be appreciated. Spencer

Watch out going much over a 160 rear tire or youll end up with chain/frame issues.
As far as axle goes youll need to find one same diameter as the flanges on your swingarm, bearings can be swapped in wheel to match axle.
As for the spacers youll just need to center your wheel and start measuring.
For the front end it would probably be easier to just swap complete front end.

I would like to run an 18 x 150 as I have it on my other rim and it fit great. Are the axles the same. I think we are at 20mm right now for the KZ. It sould be a easy bolt-up with brake mount and spacing issues right.

I have a Suzuki 18 x 4.5" rear wheel with 20mm bearings and the brake disc. It's been chromed and it's in pretty good shape, not perfect though. I don't have the sprocket hub.
