Can Front Wheel Install Either Way KZ750? was created by rustbuckett
'82 KZ750, bought used a couple weeks ago. Just noticed the front tire is mounted backwards (forward arrow points to the rear).

Question: can I simply remove the front wheel, dis brake rotors and all; and just swap it around 180 degrees sideways and bolt it right back on so the tire spins forward?

Or will the wheel only go on in one orientation.... making me have to take the wheel to a shop and have them un-mount the tire and re-mount it the right way...

A couple snapshots of the wheel, one from left side, the other from the right.

Thanks for any smarts.

Can't read the pictures. The tire may be correct as is: If the tire is intended for a "rear fitment", you do reverse it's direction if you mount it on the front. The Avons I used to run had two atrrows on the sidewall, one labeled "front fitment" and the reverse arrow labeled "rear fitment". Find out if it's designed to be a rear tire, if it is the arrow should be reversed if used on the front.

That would not work on mine. Does yours have the speedo drive on the left side?

That would make the speedo cable turn backwards.

Well I think I'm screwed. Yes, left side of front wheel has the speedometer cable assembly. And the tire says "FRONT USE ONLY" but the arrow points to the rear. The guy mounted the tire backwards.

I don't know why the photos didn't upload.... I'll try one more time, just the left front side.

Can you swap the speedo drive tang from one side of the wheel to the other?

Take the parts for the speedo drive that stick through hub that the housing attaches to and put them out the oppisite side of hub, then flip the wheel around so that side is on the left and reattach the speedo and wheel just like origional, the rim/wheel doesnt care which way its installed on the bike.
then your tire will be facing right direction ,speedo will operate correctly B)
