hello all,
I think this is the right place to put this but if not moderators please let me know so I can repost elsewhere...
So, long story short I have a 1985 zn1100... it runs and drives great but has been somewhat molested over the years and is not worth restoring back to original condition... on top of all this it needs a new gas tank
that being said I really like the bike and the way it rides etc... the tank is too far gone to line (tried) and so thin that I was unable to weld or braze the thin spots from both sides there is simply too much metal about to rust through... I could possibly weld in a partition separating the bottom 1/3 or so from the rest but that would really start to cut into capacity ect...
so my question to you guys (sorry it took this long to get there) is what are my options for new or good used tanks if I want to keep somewhat close to the original lines (some modification/ welding/ reshaping is fine just dont want to have to build a tank from scratch...)

thanks... I had seen that one as well
I am not sure exactly which parts match up either and I am hesitant to spend that kind of money on a bike that I only paid $900 for a couple years ago without being sure...

Could have tank examined at local radiator shop for feasibility of possible boil and line.
If not a candidate, could consider the thicker epoxy style encapsulating liner.
Neither is terribly expensive, and could result in a serviceable tank.

Project 1984 ZN1100 (first)

Alright my first post here may upset some people by bringing up a year old post.
I tried the search function before cluttering the feed and this is the closest I could find to my question.
I recently bought a project ZN1100, I was wondering if the tank off a KZ will fit or will I have to find another ZN (ugly) tank?
