KZ650B Bolt on brake upgrades? was created by carolinaboy
I have read that if you convert to dual discs, you can bolt on GPZ750 front calipers.

Are there any other bolt on front brake mods?

Will the GPZ550 calipers also work? I have a KZ650B, and have put KZ1000 rotors on to run dual discs. I have some calipers that need rebuilding from a KZ1000, but I was wondering if there were others that would work? Lighter? Better braking?

Were the KZ1000 rotors the same diameter as the 650 rotor that you removed?

I believe they were the same size. The rotors I put on are 12" in diameter.

Yeah, the 100 disks are 12" diameter, but I had a set of 79 KZ650SR drilled disks that I was going to put on my 750 twin, until I measured them and discovered they were only 11" diameter. Maybe different model 650s used different diameter disks?

I'll pull the 650 rotor out of the parts bin tonight and measure it to be certain.

Can anyone confirm that the GPZ750 calipers will fit on this setup?
Anyone know about GPZ550 calipers?

I wonder if EX500 calipers would fit?

May help to tell which "B" model you have since the forks change after the B1(1977).

Kenny Hicks
74 Honda CB550
75 Honda CB360 (runs and rides good but not a show bike)
77 KZ650B1 (Runs Great, but needs painted and a little work.)

The GPz750 calipers will bolt right on. GPz550 and EX500 I don't know.
