Left side control question

First of all, I can't seem to fit the left lever where I need it. There is a 2 prong connection that goes directly into the left hand control unit. Here are some pics:

The left hand control unit is already to far over, farther away from the lever/grip than it should be.
Any suggestions?
Secondly, what exactly is it that plugs into the clutch lever? On the stock unit there was a plug-in that hooked up to 2 black wire connectors under the tank.
Anybody know what that is for? Here is a pic:

If it is not needed, is it possible just to cut that 2 prong connector off of my left hand lever to make more room for the left hand controls unit?
Any suggestions would help.
Thanks guys.

Now I have to figure out a way to hook that up and still be able to use the left hand control unit.
Thanks Flyndrive.

Isn't it on the transmission?
That perch looks aftermarket.

The switch is built into it. The angle of the switch is wrong.
Is it possible to run the connection under the tank to a toggle switch and just cut off the switch on the perch so I can put my levers right up against my controls unit?
So I would just be hooking up the 2 black wires from the clutch switch to a toggle switch instead? Or is there more to it than that?
Thanks guys.

Try and see if you can't swap them and end up with enough room for everything that way.
