ZX9, ZX6,ZRX swaps was created by auggiedog
Ok, first post...
So, I've been spending some time around the forums trying to get a feel for what might actually be the best parts for swaps on a 76 KZ900. I think I might be OK with the rear end, at this point i am going to try out a modified GS1100 swing arm with a pair of ZRX piggyback shocks, and the caliper lowered.
What I can't seem to get a good line on is the front end..lot's of posts with has anybody tried this, but only the one fork swap thread (which I see mentioned alot but can not find :woohoo: !
There seems to be a lot of ZX stuff out there, so that's why I mentioned it....
Any help or thoughts about this:S

I put a ZX11 front end on my 750 turbo. One of the guys on my site wrote this little "how to" years ago www.750turbo.com/frontswap.htm which might help you. As it says pretty much ANY front end can be made to fit, but you can save yourself some work if you take some preliminary measurements first, and decide if you want right-way-up or upside down forks.

Was there a reason you chose the 7? Availability or a better fit?

Lorcan..
Really great link! This will at least give me the confidence to give it a shot I think...
My thought is to stick with the zx9 since it is closer in size/wt to the KZ900, but I'll need to put more time into that.
Does any one know the outside diameter of the upper portion of the fork (pipe-fork outer in the kaw parts diagram) or the interior diameter of the reciever for the same in the triple?

Here's a tip: Buy a complete front end if you can. That means forks, triples, wheel, discs, tyre, calipers, bars, spindle, fender, spacers...the lot! It always works out cheaper and easier that way than buying, say, a pair of forks then trying to find the rest to match.

Here's a link to a 750 turbo with a ZX9R front end 750turbo.com/gallery8.htm - scroll down to Sean O'Neill's bike.
