Bolt supplier was created by Topper
I've got need of an unusually sized bolt. I've tried the local hardware stores, auto stores and the local specialty fastener place with no luck. Google/Amazon/Ebay and Yahoo searches also turned up nothing. I'm wondering if such a bolt exhists. Maybe one of you can help.

I need an M7 90mm bolt, preferably with a hex head on it. Any suggestions?

I go to McMaster-Carr ( www.mcmaster.com/ ) when I need something odd or in bulk.

Thanks for the great links. I haven't checked all of MFolk's links, but I've checked 4 of them and McMaster's. I don't think anyone makes what I'm looking for.

In M7s McMasters longest screw is 50mm. In M6 they go up to 150mm and in M8 to 200mm. No one seems to make long M7s though.

I was hoping to avoid a helicoil or timesert, but I think I'm out of luck.

No, there's not room for a 8mm bolt.

You had a lot more luck with Google than I did. I'll check that out. Thanks!

Any possibility of tapping for and using a 1/4" bolt?

I would buy an 8mm longer than you need, a 7mm die and figure out a way to cut the 8mm thread to a 7mm thread. I've done it with non metric screws, it's not much of a step down in size. With some good tap cutting fluid ill bet the 8mm bolt will go right in the 7mm die and you'll be in buisness. You'll just need to make sure you get the proper pitch and size die to cut the thread you are trying to match.

If it won't fit the 7mm die without taking off some of the thread, I'd put the 8mm bolt in a lathe and turn it down a hair or put it in a drill press and run a file on it while it's spinning. Once it's the right dia. you can cut the 7mm thread easily.

Just my 2 cents...

Patton, That would probably work, but I'd prefer to not put SAE bolts on unless I have to. It just seems wrong somehow ;)

The BMW part ramtough_63 found actually looks perfect. I'll call the local dealership on Monday and if they can't get it, it looks like there are plenty of suppliers online.
