The Old 4 Cylinder Dinosaur

Many of you, who are owners of older bigger 4 cylinder Kawasaki’s, may have noticed when out for a ride for a snack or a “Cold One” how a crowd will gather next to your bike.

Statements will be made about how they had one, or their Fathers, Brothers or Uncles owned one and how fast it was, and how for the most part, the newer, faster, sports bikes on the street tend to be ignored when you drive up on your “Dinosaur”.

Sure, the older bikes cannot compete with today’s motorcycles in handling and acceleration, but they can sure turn heads when they rumble down the streets exhausting through a nice 4 into 1 collector.

If the owner of a new sport bike wonders why the interest in your bike, ask him/her in 20-30 years will his/her bike attract as much notice as your’s does today? Our older bikes are like the “Muscle Cars” of the 70’s.

I just never changed them, I've been running around like this for yrs now. Yes, I said yrs. These bikes REALLY ARE bullet proof.

Not to mention it's SO much fun to spank these crotch rockets for a few light poles. Then to see their faces when they find out the bike is older than most of them.... Love it!

KZ fever...sorry no cure. I love this guys attitude.... B)

Not too mention the Z's often ride a lot smoother than a sportbike. I has bought a new GSXR every 2 years since 1986. Sportbikes forever and the Z's are still fun as hell to ride.

Remember, don't work on your bike so much you never ride it.

Forgot to mention that I am running a 190/50-17. Seeing some good combos on GC.

After doing a little playing around on GC here is what I came up with.

Stock: 15/40 - 1st Gear Top Speed=50.7 - 70mph=4265
Option1: 15/39 - 1st Gear Top Speed=52 - 70mph=4501
Optoin2: 14/39 - 1st Gear Top Speed=48.5 - 70mph=4823

I think I am leaning toward the 15/39 combo and maybe a front 14 for race days.

What do you think?
