My bike hates me.

So after spending 200$ to replace the chain and get some paint laid down my bike gave me the big fffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuu today. First my petcock failed and then my bike slowly started leaning over more and more on its side stand. Now there is a big hole in the frame where the side stand is welded on and I Need to rebuild my petcock. Right after I blew all the money I had to pretty her up.

So, save up for a mig welder or get it fixed by a pro?

Does anyone know what kind of metal frame an 81kz750h has?

I am thinking of just selling it and walking away. I spent an hour just trying to get one carb intake boot installed and I am about fed up.

Just get someone to weld it unless you want a welder and know how to use it.

I think Roy is right. The frame is just steel, nothing too special. The frame was probably weakened there by people sitting on the bike with side stand down. We all have bad days sometimes and these old bikes do have history. You'll be better off if you go a head and win that battle, the sun might start shining again.

Plain old mild steel tubing/glorified thin walled water pipe as a guy once told me! :laugh:
Put it up on the center stand and see if the plug weld just broke lose or if the frame actually rotted out in more than just the one area under there.

I sanded the area down and inspected it, it just pulled out the tubing where the weld is. no obvious signs of wear. I threw an add on craigslist and a guy came by and welded it up. It's ugly but it worked. traded him for some air tools.
