Is there other master cylinders that are the same as the one on my bike that I could use a rebuild kit for? Kawasaki doesn't seem to offer the piston/spring replacement parts anymore....
1982 KZ750-M1 CSR Twin
Kawasaki.com says M/C diaphragm part no. 43028-1008 is active, which means supposedly availble through Kawasaki dealerships.
M/C is common to 9 models:
KZ550-C1 (LTD) (1980)
KZ550-C2 (LTD) (1981)
KZ550-C3 (LTD) (1982)
KZ550-C4 (LTD) (1983)
KZ650-H1 (CSR) (1981)
KZ650-H2 (CSR) (1982)
KZ650-H3 (CSR) (1983)
KZ750-G1 (LTD II) (1980)
KZ750-M1 (CSR Twin) (1982)
Could contact Z1 Enterprises which lists many M/C parts for various models.
Often, disassembly plus careful and thorough cleaning will restore a horrible looking M/C to full serviceability, and sometimes without any new parts being needed.
Good Fortune!

This is the directions out of the factory manual
1. Remove screws
2 take off the master cylinder cap and diaphragm, and empty out the brake fluid.
3. Remove the locknut and pivot bold, and remove the brake lever
4. Using a thin-bladed screwdriver or some other suitable tool, press in the liner tabs which catch in the holes in the master cylinder, and then remover the liner
5. pull the piston and spring
6 remove the spring, dust seal, and piston stop from the piston
All the way up to step 5, everything goes smooth. Step 5 wont happen like the book says. the piston just wont come out, it's like there is some kinda retainer clip or something holding it in, but I don't see anything anywhere. It most certainly isn't coming apart like the book says though. I want to see if I can clean it and make it work again maybe, and if not, I want to make sure the piston bore is in good shape before I get a rebuild kit.
Thanks.

The piston might be corroded inside the bore, and difficult to remove.
