84 GPZ Mono/KZ 1000 Hack job in Progress

The good.
* Donor is a tad narrower in front
* pivot bolts are same diameter
* rear width is real close
What I need to figure out
* The axle shaft is 19.95 mm diameter on the KZ--16.95 on the GPZ What are my options here? Sleeve the smaller shaft or have the eccentrics bored for the KZ axle?
* How does one go about setting up ride height? Would I be safe in placing the top of the shock the same distance from the swingarm shaft centerline as the donor bike?
Thanks for any and all help/advice. This is a bit above my pay grade but I think I can do it Hopefully not another hack job

As far as the axle goes you might be able to just do a bearing swap to adapt the gpz axle to your wheel
posting from deep under a non-descript barn in an undisclosed location southwest of Omaha.

should have plenty to measure from the with correct placement of brackets
I adjusted my ride heght with the jack and a tape measure compare the pieces you have measure there reletive distance from the mono frame vs the stck frame

Having the whole back half of the frame is a big help for me. It is alot easier to get my mind arounf it and visualize it. Thanks Ram.

So what can I do?
Bore the frame to 17?
or
Bozo used a sleeve out of a 550 GPZ. Not sure which year yet. Ron Ayers does not have a fiche for the older GPZ's so I need to look around a bit.
Any thoughts? Thanks

and trimmed about 1/16" off both sleaves.
As for the rear axle there is not a bearing that fits the KZ1000
hub and the GPZ axle.
I had some sleaves made to press on the GPz bearings to fit the hub.
Added two flat washers to the spacers on each side and it bolted up.
1980 KZ650 F1
ZX750A1 motor.
Wiseco 810cc kit.
Zukiworks racing ported head.
VM 29 smooth bore's.
Dyna 2000 Ign. w/Dyna mini coil's
APE cylinder stud's and nut's.
APE valve spring's.
APE Track King clutch.
V/H KZ1000 sidewinder.
3.5x18 laced to a KZ1000 disk hub.
150/60/18 Shinko 006 Podium.
63" wheel base.

I don't remember the KZ axle size but you bored the adjusters? That is what I would really like to do if it leaves enough meat.

frame perfect.
I looked at drilling the eccentrics but one is a
press fit to the axle and if their not drilled dead
on the axle ain't gonna go back in.

Measure the internal distance where the frame pivot goes and make the spacers fit (the right hand side that goes on the roller bearing was 11mm.
As for the frame clearance, check my pictures. I sculptured the swingarm to clear the brake bracket. If you have a different setup you are blessed.
As for the rear axle, I used the GPZ rear wheel/ brake with gearing to suit using a 530 chain again that took a while to get right because before I put the swingarm on I measured the sprocket distance from the centre of engine (you can also use the old wheel setup to do this but not as accurate). I idea was to make sure the sprocket distance from centre is the same on the rear wheel (I had to machine the sprocket hub) or space the engine sprocket out which might be easier. You can see on my setup the chain is nearly rubbing on the wheel hub (I did have to file (yes it was a rough way of doing it) around to clear (I used a hyabusa chain with wide links).
The biggest problem (apart from others) was getting the rear wheel spaced correctly to sit centre as the swingarm might not be perfectly central on the pivot.
Why did I do this, I couldn't wait any longer for the JMC swingarm I never got.
