1979 KZ1000 LTD

Does anyone know what year Kawasaki switched from spoke wheels to the magnesium? Mine is a 1979 B3 LTD with a magnesium wheel and I saw a 1978 on Ebay with spokes.
I guess what I was wondering is...was there an option of what wheel style the bikes had? Or is it possible to have a stock 1979 KZ 1000 LTD with spoke wheels?

Yea, 1979 was cast wheels on all KZ1000s. LTDs always had cast wheels, beginning with the first KZ900LTD in 1976. Standard KZ900A, Z1 and KZ1000A from 1973-1978 all had spokes. 1979 KZ1000MKII and ST went to cast wheels so the entire line was cast at that time. They never had an option as to wheels, but many switched to Lester wheels to get rid of the spokes back in the day.

Am thinking when CSR and LTD models were both offered in the same year, that the CSR usually had spoke wheels, and the LTD had mag wheels.
Good Fortune!

its my belief that in the UK we had an off the forecourt option of mag wheels for the z900a4, 1000a1,z1000a2 if requested.
