Hi Ya'll....
So I sold off my stock KZ900 wires. I am starting to think I should have reconsidered that. I am thinking about buying a set and replacing them with 17" aluminum hoops. My question is, are there any disc wire wheel options around the 76-80 time period? I know they had them in 81+ , but they are awfully large hubs and if I sink the rim size down one size, you probable won't see a single spoke! Let me know what hubs were available.

76-78 900/1000 use same front wire wheel,so did 750 twins and early 650s.
As far as a disc brake rear wheel goes 77-78 kz1000 A-series would probably be easiest,750 twin also used disc brake rear wheel but Im not sure if bearing size is same

I have access to a '81 CSR front wheel which I think might be a decent match for the ZRX from forks and speedo drive. The rear I will keep an eye open for, but I am thinking about a a Kawi KLR650 rear hub. It is pretty streamline and may work well. Any one got a picture of the KZ rear hub or wheel with disc brake from the 78-80 like Wireman recommends?

Lots of good info on kawasaki.com, including parts diagrams, part names, part numbers, models sharing same part, availability, etc. Here's a link for help with navigating the site and finding information.

Yep going to start with a set of hubs off a 81 CSR and adapt what I need to. Will have them re-laced with 17" hoops for my modern tires. Will post up pics when I start.
