well ive been spraying penetrating oil on the stud all weekend and letting it sit. i just now put a vice grip on to see if it would come out. well it did and it came out real easily. now i have to wait for the replacement to show up and hope its the same one. thanks for all your help.

You can use the double-nut trick to install the new studs. That way you won't need to worry about the vise-grips damaging the new threads. Ed

that sounds like a plan . ill hit ace hardware when the stud comes so i can get the correct size (8mm)

well the new stud is longer then the old one. the unthreaded part is about 1/4 longer then the old one. i got a 8x35mm. do you think an 8x28.5 would be a better fit?
