1978 KZ200 Installing Hydraulic Front Brake was created by Jasonkz200
On the 1978 KZ200 the front brake is simply a cable. Does anyone a hydraulic front brake that is compatible with this bike?? Any help is greatly appreciated.

If your bike has a drum brake on the front there is no hydraulic master cylinder that will operate it. You might try to find a KZ200 front end with a disk brake and swap its parts with yours. Ed

The front brake is a disc brake. Only without hydraulics. When I squeeze the lever a cable closes the pads on the disc. I figured that there might be a hydraulic caliper that i can replace with the non-hydraulic caliper. Maybe from a kz400 or kz250. The caliper i have now is mounted in front of the forks. thanks again and thanks ed

I believe all the KZ250's use a drum brake up front. Making the switch will require a different caliper. KZ400/440's use different rotors, calipers, etc. but you might be able to make the swap if you can get good measurements from someone and if the dimensions of the rotor, caliper mounts, etc. match your bike. Unfortunately, I suspect this will not be a simple project. Ed

Yea thanks. I can always switch out the forks with other ones but that will be expensive.
