1982 KAWASAKI KZ 1100 A SHAFT
drag bars was created by kenfowler123
Have a 82 kz 1100, I am interested in some drag bars. My question is what length do they need to be to accommodate the master brake cylinder and all the stock accessories that go on the stock handlebars?

i got a set of drag bars for my 84 kz1100 (pretty much the same bike). I had to put a set of 3" risers on so the master cylinder would clear. They look great. No other changes were required.

I went with a set of "Daytona" bars on mine.I had to drill a hole for the right controls to lock into, and reposition the front line off the master 90* up.Other than that, everything workes out.

im runnin super bike bars that are 30in wide, and everything is spaced out perfect changed, to a zx11 master cylinder because of the extreme angle the stock mc would have been put in

There are also "broomstick" drag bars which have no bend. They come longer, like 32 inches and then you cut them down to the length that clears the master cylinder and so that the control switches don't hit the gas tank. I have a set. The look takes some getting used to.
Too bad regular drag bars (with the bend) are made so short. If they were 30 inches wide then there would be less problems with clearance.
Here's a picture of a KZ I had with the broomstick handlebar.
