Last year I went with Pirelli Sport Demon, they worked great and I put 9,000 trouble free miles on them but they are toast now

I will probably get another set but I'm open to suggestions.

I have stock wire rims , 19 front and 18 back.

Thanks ,

JD

If you liked them , I would probably get another set. Im thinking about a set of those or Avon Cobras

I use Pirelli tires also, even on my ten speed, love them, and never had a problem.

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

Hard to beat a metzler. I have had the bridgestones as well. Really loved both tires that I rode on. Now with my Rex, that is a different story. On the Rex I break the Pirellis free like a red headed stepchild gets beat. I personally love the Michelin pilots hands down. I grab a handful of throttle and the bike bites and stands up unlike the Pirellis that spin and take time to warm up. All of the tires previously mentioned as well as the ones I mentioned are great for the kz. Just don't cheap out on a set of no name or you will be wearing them out much quicker. Not that you would by any means. :P

I've been thinking about getting Michelin Commander 2 tires, but I haven't read much about them yet.

I've been reading lots of good posts about Shinko (The street tires), but have no first hand experience.

Take a look at Competition Accessories

The good thing about the Avon Road Rider is you can buy the correct 4.00-18 and 3.25-19 size tires and they fit the wheels correctly, so wear correctly. Guys try to run metric 80 and 90 aspect tire sizes and they don't wear correctly, because they DON'T FIT. Like putting a square peg in a round hole. Yes you can run 120/90-18 tires, they look good, but are crowned and wear bad, or run 110/90-18 and look like a wimp moped tire, but wear OK. Can even run 130, 140, 190 on a 2.15" wheel :pinch: Right sure you can. Nothing wrong with running tires that fit correctly, the Avons do, and work fine if you stay with the correct factory size. i think Metzler still offers correct tires too. Few choices out there. I learned my lesson over the years and went back to factory size and will not go back to the square peg, round hole mistake ever again.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I didn't know anybody made actual English size tires anymore.

OK Avon RoadRiders it is , I'm ordering them this morning.

I really felt confident on the Sport Demons , they handled the corners beautifully but at around 7K they went quickly .

I'm hoping to get a few more miles out of the next set.

Thank you guys for all your input B)

Update; Roadriders ordered from Competition Accessories, free shipping two tires and some weights $255.89

Yea, great, and you'll look good running the correct size tires that few are interested in. Good job, I'm sure you'll be happy with the Avons.
