i have a 76 kawasaki kz750. the rear brake is constantly pressed. ive tried bleeding both bleeders. the rubber that the rod goes into on the bottom of the master cylinder is pretty wrotten. i can still use the brake but it squeals constantly after i press it. would this be the caliper or the master cylinder? any ideas for a cheap fix? dont have alot of money to spend on it anymore. have already put over $700 to get it runnin again.

It could be a bit of crud in the tiny orifice in the master cylinder that allows fluid to return when the brake is released. Bleeding the brakes may not have cleared that orifice. Ed

First thing you do is disconnect and remove the brake pedal. Then clean and lube the pivot before re-installing the pedal.

That will "probably" fix it.

If not, then remove and clean the rear master cylinder, and make sure the "two" little holes in it are clear.

Check the adjustment bolt and make sure that the lock nut hasn't come loose and the bolt has spun down holding the brake pedal from coming back up and allowing the fluid to return to the reservoir.

Note; this is a picture of a 78 kz1000 but I would guess that your 76 kz750 should look similar.

I had a mechanic rebuild the master cylinder and caliper years ago trying to fix my stuck brake.

After the third time in there the owner of the place came over and had a look.

He started at the brake pedal then he looked at the bolt :pinch: problem solved.

That's one of the reasons I do my own work now, because I can't afford to pay someone else to screw up my stuff for me.

Could also be a bad hose acting like a check valve. Can loosen hose at caliper and see if it releases.

My brother had that problem with his Firebird, good thing I remembered reading about that sometime in the past. :)

Just goes to show no matter how long you live you'll never see everything. But if you live long enough and pay attention, you'll see an awful lot.

Margaritas are making me loquacious (Thank whoever for spell check).

Just looked at the pics you posted. Get rid of that awful seat and do some cleaning and polishing! Those mufflers are ugly too.

Little girl has the right idea, just keep her away from those pipes when they're hot!!!
Shame on you for making her do all the work though  J/K

i took the master cylinder apart cleaned everything. come to the conclusion that it is either the caliper or like one of you have said the hose has colapsed
