I'm about to replace the chain and sprockets on my 82 750 CSR Twin. I want to change the sizes because on the interstate at 70mph it's really high in the rpm range...The current sprocket sizes are 16-38. What sizes does everyone recommend for this bike?

17/38 is what most of the 750 twin owners use, to fit an 18 tooth front sprocket you will have to remove the chain guard around the sprocket.
38 is the smallest you can use in the rear, unless you get a sprocket custom made.

And a custom rear sprocket is very pricey.
I ran a 16-32 for a lot of years and that was good for cruising. I run 17-38 now which is better for street riding.

So custom sprockets are the only option then? Is the 750 csr that different form the other kz750 models that the sprockets do not interchange? what about the 650 csr? If this is the case that I cannot substitute from another model, is it possible to purchase a sprocket for a different model and then re-clock and drill new mounting holes to fit the 750 csr hub? That would have to be cheaper than a custom sprocket. I ask because I'm considering the same for my 750 csr in the near future. I live 25 miles from the closest metropolis and the bike is my main transportation. It would be nice not to have to re-torque everything every couple days because of the vibrations caused from riding at 5 grand and over for periods of time. Plus, I'm not sure that's very healthy for the engine. I try to take back roads, but the highway is a lot faster. I just don't like getting pushed down the road and possibly run over.
