Clutch failed while riding. Is it the cable?

So I'm riding along 4th gear 70k/hr, went to grab the clutch leaver and it was more limp then a dude seeing Jessica Parker nude. It was like the cable broke.
Limped her home through some savvy techniques and some luck too. I thought the magnet part fell out of the case cover but it didn't. Upon inspection the magnet part with the 3 balls looked like the balls were causing some slight groves (wear) in the piece. I don't think this is related though.
Any ways I traced out the cable for damage and cant seem to find anything wrong other than the following;
The clutch adjustment locking bolt was loose. I readjusted as per the manual. Fixed that but clutch doesn't feel right still.
The cable seems longer, even with adjusting both the leaver adjuster and the mid way adjuster to the max I safely can, I cant get the play out back to the spec of the manual. Instead of 1-2mm of play it's more like 5+mm and clutch doesn't feel right.
Is my cable stretched?

Just for grins, loosen lock-nut, and adjust the screw to light seat by turning it opposite to what the manual says, then reverse 1/2 turn, then tighten the lock-nut.Hollywoodmx wrote: ...The clutch adjustment locking bolt was loose. As a quick check you may be able to see the basket moving out by looking down the oil filler.
It will only need the nut to loosen by a small amount to give your symptoms.
Other possible causes = broken clutch springs, shattered pushrod ballbearing etc.

There is some damage, what do you guys think? Are those sliding grooves normal or are they supposed to round to match the balls?Is this part hard to find?

In the end I'm not sure what caused the original issue. I'm leaning mostly toward the clutch pack got stuck somehow.

It funny you say that, cause I normally slightly overfill the oil and dont listen to the manual. The manual says oil at half way mark after the bike is warm and on center. But that scares the crap out of me. I followed the manual this las oil change and then the clutch acts up...so may be its not worth following the manual...
