Terminal lance corporal of Marines, putting the GRUNT in disgruntled
kz1000 cafe project
Anyone running 18"front/18"rear spoke wheels on? was created by kamakazie1000
greetings,
I'm thinking of relacing a kz1000 front hub to an 18 inch rim on my "77" kz1000 cafe project in the name of a better stance and improved handling. Any one with any experience with this? questions, comments, concerns welcome.
Regards,
J.H.C

I have an 18" Sun rim laced up on the front of mine.
The fender radius is a little off as well as the speedometer.

I've got an 18" front wheel, off a Z1R, on my '78 KZ650C2.
Really, I don't feel any difference than when I had the 19" on there.
Speedometer doesn't seem to be too far off when comparing to a buddy beside me.
Back in the day, Kawasaki switched the '80 Z1R to a 19" front wheel, due to apparent handling issues.
I Haven't had any issues with the 18" front.
19" on left, and 18":

Thanks for the info. I'm switching from mags to spokes, so I guess it depends on what kind of shape the front rim I buy is in, if it needs replacing, I'll probably go 18, if it's good the. I'll just stick with the 19.
That belly pan is pretty gnarley by the way, I was actually looking for a way to incorporate that design on my build, but that never even occurred to me!
