Air Ride Suspension ( Air Bag ) was created by Tweek1
Ok guys, been through the forums and the project build pages and was unable to find any info on a air bag suspension set up. If you guys know of a direction I can go, I would appreciate the shove. I have a 76 Ltd 900 that I am building. I just put a 9 inch extended swing arm on it, was planning on doing the dual shock set up. After mocking up the swing arm and most of tail pieces, I've decided to go with something different. I want to single bag the rear. I'd post pics, but they won't upload for some reason. I'm asking for your help guys !

Ok. To load pictures try the following –

After you key in you text in the “Message” block look at the next block down labeled “Attachments.”
There, click on “Add File.” That should present you with a list of your folders.
Locate the picture in JPG format you wish to post and double click on it. The file name should then appear in the window next to “Add File.”
Then click on “Insert” next to “Add File” “Remove File.” This should add a line to the text that you keyed in.
Then click on “Submit.”

If you get an error message that looks like the one below, the picture file is too big. You can use “Paint” on your PC to resize the picture to a smaller size then try adding the file name again.

Not exactly what I was looking for. I was just looking for a previous install to get some ideas for my own fab work. I have sources for parts.

Are you planning on using a single shock or double with the air bag?

It depends on the size of the airbag I use. Thats why I was hunting for some pictures of some installs, to fuel my ideas.

Have you any experience with air bags? If so, feel free to ignore the following.

I have experience with air bags on semi tractors (suspension and cab) and as add on load boosters on pickups. The size of the air bag is based on load capacity and air pressure. More pressure means smaller size air bag. You're pretty much limited to mounting it on top the swing arm with an upper mount point added, and you will only need less than 2" of movement at that point.

Have you considered a single integrated air ride shock?

I have considered a single air ride shock, but have not found one short enough. The shortest one will have to go through the swing-arm and mount on a loop or something similar. I was concerned with the ground clearance going with that set up. That would be the ideal way to do it. Things are kinda on hold right now, as the swing-arm will not accommodate my stock wheels, which is the way I wanted to go with it. Trying to figure out a wheel combo now. If the rear wheel set up becomes to much of a problem, just might go with another swing-arm set up.
