as long as it doesn't leak it should be ok but is it worth the risk on brakes?

Hard to tell from the pic just how deep those pits are. I've had some pretty rough pistons from my Honda that I was able to clean up on a wire wheel and they are working ok. You can try to clean up with a green or white scotch brite and see how it feels. If you can catch your fingernail on it pretty good then you may want to replace. Bummer, cuz I know they are pricey.

What's condition of the bore? If badly pitted, may tip the scales in favor of replacing the caliper.
Good Fortune!

The caliper bore is as smooth as a baby's butt. Took some 1000 grit sandpaper to it. Ordered a new piston and o-rings for it. As well as new bleeders. Then surely I can get this thing bled before moto go next weekend.

You did right getting a new piston. This is the sealing surface for the seals. Also the Groove where the square O-ring sits. Bore for the piston is less important. As long as the piston fits well, not sticking or excessively loose. A few small pits in the bore would just hold fluid, it would not cause a loss of sealing.
