But the wheel has a bit of play in it...probably a quarter inch or so. This can't be normal...is it?? If not, any ideas???
Thanks

Side to side on the axle?
Or is it tilting sideways compared to the forks?
Pics would help.

I'm think maybe bearings.
I don't have a 550 but I have 750 and 440 bikes.
And some of them have a leading axle forks also,
so they should be the same basic design.
I'll look tomorrow and compare them with your pic.

I'm going to take the axle off again and see if I'm missing something.

Thanks ed...I'll do that tonight
Was really hoping to take this bike on its maiden ride this weekend.
