ATTN: People who have put low bars on a MKII...
I would like to put a lower set on my 79 MKII but not sol low I have to swap out all the hoses and cables.
Something Z1R-ish would be my pick.
Anyone have experience with such a conversion?
I doubt Z1R bars would work but I am all ears.

I got away with using the stock throttle cables by routing them under the headlight ear instead of up by the top triple tree like on the stock cable routing.
I always move the bars from side to side while I open and close the throttle to make sure they do not stick anywhere after installing or rerouting the cables.
I have used the stock Z1R bars, but I ended up with using some old K&N Superbike bars because I liked the bend of the bars better!!!

After I retired the MKII I put back on the stock bars just to be back original, but if I was planning to ride it again any distance I would not hesitate to put on lower bars.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I think the Z1R bars are not quite as low as the K&N's.... Good idea using the shorter clutch cable. Wonder if the shorter throttle cables off the Z1R would also fit the MKII.
Anyone?

All the Z1r cables have been discontinued from Kawasaki according to their website. I put my extra Z1r cables on Ebay a few years back and I could not believe what I got for them. Now I know why!!!! All the KZ900/1000(1976 to 1980) throttle cables interchange. Sold many Z1r cables for people that put Superbike bars on their LTD's back in the day.
I don't think K&N even make handlebars anymore either.
