While getting it running I've actually become attached to it and am looking for ideas
for changing the tail piece and am wondering if anyone out there has any ideas or has already done one...
Here's what it looks like so far...
These are my bikes:
1977 GS750B
1983 GS750E
1984 KZ750
1991 ZX7
1986 1000R
1982 KZ1000J
1982 KZ1000K

I've been cleaning the bike up as it spent most of it's life outside and was rusty and dirty.
I changed the bars, removed the stock air box and installed K N filters and installed a 3rd stage dyno kit...
I stripped off a bunch of stuck and painted the front forks and front wheel along with the rear shocks and the front and rear brake calipers...
I removed the seat and tail section and have just placed the tail section from my KZ1000J on it along with the side cover...
The plan is to rattle can the gas tank flat black and paint the engine low gloss black.
If I modify the tail section I'll have to make up a custom seat...which I can do by chopping out a section of the KZ1000J seat and putting it back together...
Or I'm looking for possible options with regards to after market seats and cowlings if anyone knows where I can purchase one...
Again any ideas and input will be appreciated.
Dave

it's your bike and you get to do what ever you like with it.
but if it was mine, .......
it would look like a variation on the bike in the pic.

I picked this bike up just for the engine as I also have a KZ1000J 1982 which I am in the early stages of restoring...
I wanted to make sure the engine was good in the KZ1000K LTD before swaping it out...
As I mentioned I began cleaning up the K and thought it will be a good bike to chop up and make a bobber/rat rod out of it...
Torn between the J and K...

I agree...I love the chopped off look on most of the old bikes...
The seats are too long...
I had the idea like you to fab a seat out of wood then get get someone to do it professionally...
Do you have any more pics of your bike? The tail end looks great...

I love the look and whenever I park it I get people passing up newer fancy bikes to check mine out haha. My buddy on his 30K Bimmer doesn't appreciate that....
