What do there things look like? I have kz trees that came on my z1 frame and the headlight fit is tight, the gauges dont mount up and ebay only returns the usual "dragbike kz z1 900 1000" listings instead of what i want to see

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configuration
Obviously this is for a NOS but have a look to spot the gauge mount difference.

Whoa, thats more than i have in the whole bike so far (missing a battery box side covers and tail light.) :woohoo: is there a difference in the fork spacing on the z1's? And whatabout the bottom tree?
If z1 parts end up being to much wife may get this thing for a modified bike. And i'll just clone a z1 into one of the 80ltd frames instead

I believe that the lowers should be close to the same and fork spacing should be the same as well but I've not had the two apart and in my hands to know for sure.

I know one of these bikes (73 Z1 or 78 1000A2) came with a lower tree that was slightly narrower maybe an eighth of an inch or so.
I seen that same seller has a lower tree, simillar to ones i have but it has that boss for an ignition switch i guess?

Ya gotta be more specific? With pictures. Yes the top tree's are different KZ & Z1 only the speedo mount.
Bottom triple tree is the same on all Z1 & KZ900 & KZ1000 except the Z1 bottom has a hole on the right side for the 73-75 sterring stabilizer. The tops are different Z1 has a solid mount for the gauge bracket, 2 - 8mm bolts hold that mount to the bottom of the top tree. Then in 76 Factory went to rubber mounted holes for the gauges. These tops are interchangable. If you need a Z1 top, just wait around for one. Hence you need the gauge setup for that also. They pop up on ebay all the time. I just sold one 3 months ago for $14.99, no one bid on it? Whatever.
So, what do you have?
And what are you using?
KZ guages?
Or Z1 guages?

Your lower tree is a 1980 model, the sterring lock was in the neck of the frame. You will see a rectangular notch cut into the stem. Plenty on ebay, That "oinkjohnson" sells alot of them.
If you can beat his team of shill bidders.
If you want to use your stem, a good machinist can drill the bottom hole out and you can install an old stem lock.
But top 73-75 tree's are pricey.
Sell your Z1 gauges on ebay, you will get some nice money. Then go with KZ style gauges.
