Other than sliding the forks up through the trees, is there another way? Shorter springs in the forks? Cutting the springs? I'd like a bit stiffer front too

The correct way is using a spacer internally. There are a few places that still carry them. I have no idea if I can post a link as the company isn't a vendor on here.

To stiffen it up, you can change to Progressive or Sonic springs. The poor man's way is to cut the springs, which increases spring rate, and adding a PVC spacer to set the static sag (usually around 1-1 1/2").
The only way to lower it is to raise the fork tubes or install a different front end.
Please note:, if you lower front, you must also lower the rear to maintain the correct geometry.

So if I wanted to lower it two inches, how much do I cut off the springs? I like the spacer idea cause I got to put in new fork seals. How long of spacers?

What you need to keep in mind is that making it shorter makes it stiffer. So you need to cut it off to the stiffness you want, then make the spacer for the height you want.

Not sure what bike your talking about, but for say a Z1000, I think you can use 650 tubes / springs which will drop it by approx. 30mm
