as you will see from the photos i cant get the footpegs sitting right but this is the only way that they go on the bike the lefthand side (gear shifter) is correct, it sits well lenght wise with the shifter.
As you can see the righthand side (brake) is sitting to far forward
when i picked up the bike the PO had some after markets on it, maybe he moved the position of the mounts?
I all so will post a picture of the frame, the bike i think i have is a KZ440A, am i wrong and therefore ordering the wrong part?
I really need to get this problem sorted out before i go futher with the frame work, if all else fails i will have to soulution.
somehow the brake side footpeg needs to come back, but i all so can just move the mounting point back that far as for the pegs to be inline the mountingpoint would be riggght at the back of the frame
anyone has an idea of whats going on here?

From referencing the diagrams at partzilla, I couldn't pin down what bike it is. The top frame tube looks similar to the 76 KX400 (KX, not KZ) - note how it terminates there near where the front of the seat would be. The top frame tube on the KZ400-A1/A2 has a bend there & curves down, terminating at a lower point. However, other stuff in the KX frame drawing doesn't match yours.
As for the footrests, maybe you already know this, but there is typically a left hand bracket & a right hand. Looking at some of the 400s, the brackets for each side can look different, instead of being mirror images of each other.

The bike is registered here in Germany as a 1981 KZ440A but when i picked it up it had a KZ440B tank on it, does the KZ440B look like mine? i have the haynes manuel but there are no pictures of just the 440B frame.
Like i said i now have ordered 3 sets of footrest and these seem to be the most right, as in they have the cutout that buts up to the cutout of the frame, the other set did not have a cut out.
i need to get the frame taken in for some fab work should i just get them to move the connection point on the brakeside back so they align or is that a bad idea? i Feel like i need to get this simple problem sorted before i can move forward with the build. some recomendations on what to do are welcome

I believe you keep ordering footrests that are for the KZ440 LTD instead of the regular KZ440. Take a look at the first diagram below. They look just like the ones in your picture, but they are for the KZ440-LTD models. Now take a look at the second diagram below. Notice both footrest brackets are very different than the ones you bought. They are for the non-LTD (KZ440-B1/B2) models. I suspect those are the ones your bike needs, and that certainly looks like it is the case if your bike is not an LTD model. In the 2 photos below the diagrams you can see the right side footrest difference between the KZ440-LTD (first photo) and the KZ440 standard (second photo). The left sides are also different. I hope this helps solve the mystery. Ed

My mistake. I misread the model as a KZ400 in your topic post. I'd guess a 440B.jsnabbs wrote: Hey Martin, thanks a bunch for your reply, i will check for a frame number when i get down to the workshop next time.

From the diagrams at Partzilla.com, the frame looks like a KZ440B, but yours appears to have some modifications. It looks like someone may have done some cutting & also welded on a rear frame hoop.
eebbaayy photos are sometimes helpful for stuff like this. Not sure how much help this will be, but the following frame appears to be similar to yours. I think he has it mislabeled as an Ltd, but it may actually be a 440B. For one thing, the Ltd frame's rear end sticks up like a rooster tail - this one doesn't. 440 frame - possibly misidentified
