kz400 B2 master cylinder rebuild kit was created by pmowen
Has anyone else had trouble finding a rebuild kit for this master cylinder? I've looked around online but don't see anything for the B2 model. Will kits from other models work?
If they really aren't around then does anyone have a recommendation for a new one? There's some pretty cool looking stuff available online, but I'm not sure it'll be compatible...
Thanks for any help you can give me!

I did see that. Is that usually enough to fix a problem? I notice that other rebuild kits generally come with more parts.

I don't know about a "kit", but take a look at the diagram below. According to Kawasaki.com the piston and dust cover are still "Active" parts so any dealer can order them. Ronayers.com lists the piston at $36.37 and the dust cover at $4.37 (see links below). I don't know if there are other parts you are trying to find, but assuming you haven't lost any pieces I would think those 2 parts would be enough to make the MC work properly again. Ed

The aftermarket kits usually have more stuff. Other than oem, K&L is the only brand I would get as their parts are made in Japan & oem quality (IMHO). I have no idea if K&L (or anyone else) has anything for your bike. Be wary of non-japanese parts, especially made in china.
You can get a different master cylinder & it doesn't have to be Kawasaki or old.
usa-motorcycles-inc sells new aftermarket units on eebbaayy. The basic criteria for an alternate mc is: 7/8" bars, piston bore diameter (single disk is ~12.5mm or dual disk ~16mm), mount angle, mirror orifice (some don't have it & I think some are specifically for Yamaha left-hand-threads). The mount angle is in reference to the handlebars - Ltd bars for instance require an angled mount on the mc. Also, you'd have to splice the brake light wires. should be easy.
