Lowering fork on Z1000J3 was created by Mk2Rookie
Hi! i recently installed Progressiv Suspension springs in my forks and left out the spacer just to see how low it would get, the height is now about right but the fork is waaay to soft.. So i guess that's what the spacer is for! But i will like to lower it around 50mm (2") internal and i know this has been covered several times on this forum on other bikes but it might my english or just that i have not found anything about the J/R forks. I've learned that some put a spacer in the damping rod which will keep the natural position of the tubes lover in the forks.. But should this be done with the recommended spacer in top of the tubes or should i only put spacers on the rods ?

This conversion is done regularly on flattrack bikes. Remove the length of spring from the top and add it back in under the damper rod.

Maybe this will help
The short section of spring on the bottom is a "top-out" spring. You have to have SOMETHING there that will absorb top out type of action

Thank you so much! It all makes sense to me now A spacer on top of the rebound spring will lower the forks and pre-load the springs but it also blocks off the hole in the rod so it has to be a spring? Am i correct ?
