535 Conversion chain install question was created by Markovich
Hi everyone, I read through all the great information about converting from the old 630 chain to the 530 chain and have ordered the recommended set from Z1 Enterprises. I spend my waiting time going over the installation process and realized that I don't know where to set the rear wheel during the initial install. Do I move the wheel all the way forward in the slots or just half way? I figured coming to the forum would get me the best answer. Hope to get the parts on Monday. I think once this is done I will be able to take it out for a test run. Any help with this is appreciated indeed.

This is a good question.
I see it like this. I want to be able to adjust the slack out of the chain as it stretches. If you have rear wheel to far back in the adjustment area of the swing arm as the chain stretches.....you will run out of room and not be able to adjust the slack out of the chain.
I would want to have rear wheel axle in the very center of swing arm axle travel. You will have maximum adjustment and never run out.

I appreciate the quick response. I posted this in carb section late last night. Then I titled it 535 instead of 530. Man not as young as I used to be. Chomping at the bit as they say. Waiting, waiting. Wow, love the internet and KZR forum! Keith

The length of the chain is what will determine where the wheel ends up in the slots.
If I have a choice (feel like shortening a chain) I like mine towards the front of the slots to allow the maximum amount of adjustment, if you're in the center you are leaving half of the adjustment on the table.... .
