Different Rear master Cylinder??? was created by kzdcw
My 77' KZ1000A I purchased a while ago has both Front & Rear Master Cylinders "Frozen". Been sitting a long time. I have an After Market 5/8" Front Master that I'm probably going to use. Question I have, If I can't rebuild my Rear Master is there "another" Master that some of you have used without too much modifications to work? I'm hoping that some of you have ran into this situation before and have used another type that worked well with good results!

look up dimecity cyclers they have plenty of alternatives.
as far as replasing the cyclinder with another one it shouldnt be problematic at all, as long as they are designed for the same size handlebar which i would imagine is a 7/8 on that bike almost any would fit, hte fitting on 99% of them are the same as far as ive seen.

He needs a Rr master cylinder, so the handlebars stuff isn't applicable.

Thanks Martin for being observant. There's got to be a way to use a different "Rear" master that would work?

Making reference to my earlier Post. I used an aftermarket "Chinese" F/Master Cylinder. Works great. Inexpensive and a good alternative. Used them in the Past and never had a problem before.
As far as the Rear. No one has a rebuild kit available, so disassemble, cleaned, then reassembled. Having problems bleeding it even though brake fluid is being released at the caliper bleeder valve. May have a lot of air left in system but not showing it? Or maybe brake fluid is being bled back into master reservoir past the seals during bleeding process?
So the question again is, there has to be an alternative Rear Master Cylinder that you can use? I'm asumming mounting and pushrod length will be the factor?
I'm sure some of you have gone to different Rear Master Cylinder. The question is "what' and "how"?

I am using a rear mastercylinder from a 2005 yzf600r on my 78 kz750b project. It has the same bolt pattern and is the same bore ID. I did need to make the link rod but that's an easy part.

I've got an '04 GSXR600 rear MC on my '78 650C2.
The MC is attached to the footpeg bracket from the GSXR, as is the brake switch.
Two holes into the flat area of the frame and bolt on the GSXR brackets.

Have any of your guys considered using this? Even though there made in China, I've had great luck with Front Master Cylinders. I'm sure these would be the same. I believe their 1/2" bore ( 12mm ) but I believe they have 16mm which is 5/8". I've inquired with the seller.
80B4, Mounting bolt spacing on the KZ1000 is slightly less the 2". Is your KZ750 the same as with the Yamaha Master your using? Is the thickness of the Master the same as the frame brackets or did you have to shim it? And the pushrod, did you use the stock one or fabricated one? Any pictures you could share?
Rstnick, what was the bolt spacing on the mounts for the Master. Is the bore diameter 1/2" or 5/8"? I'm assuming your running a remote brake fluid reservoir?
I like to use the frame mounts on my KZ to mount the other Master Cylinder whether aftermarket or off a different make and model of motorcycle. Appreciate any more input from anyone who like to respond.

77-78 1000 is same ,I wonder if a kz650 with rear disc and 750 twin with rear disc wouldn't be the same,79-80 1000 ltd rear master cylinder might be able to retrofit, but they went to a remote res at some point and are harder to find.

Plummen, That's why the aftermarket and other make/model M/C's. Rebuild kits not existent. In my case, I'm not looking for originality but function ability.
