1978 kz1000 modern fork swap was created by BTR83
I just recently bought a 1978 kz1000 and I want to do a modern fork swap inverted or non inverted that bolts right on. What is the best swap?

Look in the projects section. you'll find that many are used, but nothing "bolts on"
Good luck with your project. Paul

I swapped in a 89-90 Zx7R frontend to my '78 Kz1000. Just needed a bearing swap kit courtesy of All Balls Racing. Steering stops lined up and just needed the upper drilled for bar risers, the ignition switch lugs and loop cut off and gauge brackets welded on. Not 100% without fab but about as close as you're gonna get.

Thanks Doug, I appreciate it. Did you replace the swing arm and rear suspension? I'm going for the cafe racer/street fighter look. I plan on doing more as far as new handle bars and placement and a different gas tank. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

I went with a Gsxr1100 arm and a Zx6D rear rim with factory dual shocks. I have a Gsxr750 (shorter) swingarm with all the mono-shock linkage waiting on a shelf to someday be installed with a bolt-in kit I want to design.
