Did you try to contact slipstream, or whoever makes it, ...If I were you I would return it for your money, & order one from E-bay or Amazon, & make sure it comes with hardware for your specific model bike

I have a 1979 KZ-750B and have had several different full fairing windshields. There are some that can be made to fit. If that one doesn't, make the dealer take it back. On mine, there are two mounts on the crossbar of the handlebars and two lower mounts on the turn signal stems.

I've searched ebay and Amazon and nothing comes up for the 76. Finding all 77+.

Just looking at the pictures you posted, I don't see any obvious differences between your 76 750B and my 79 750B. Not sure why the mounts shouldn't work. I assumed all the B models had same size frames and same kind of handlebars and lights.

I would contact slipstream and make sure you have the right mount bars. I suspect they have some options on those.

It seems like where it "should" be on my forks. My headlight bracket is there. Slipstream is supppsed to be sending an alternate assembly so I guess i will see if this one will work properly.
