Changing brake pads - Caliper Question was created by element303
My question is simple: How in the world do I push the callipers back inside to fit the new, bigger brake pads in?? They don't move a quantum.

Do you mean push the piston in the brake caliper back a bit ?
If so then I use one of these or a similar type of clamp. It should not require much pressure.

Open the bleeder valve first then use a flat blade screwdriver to pry it open
Also put a short length of clear tube on the bleeder valve so you can keep from making a mess and keep air out of the caliper.

I was hoping I don't have to remove any liquid. I don't have any of those clamps. Any other suggestions?

If you don't have a C-clamp its time for a new tool, They're like $5. Many, many, uses. I have over 30 of various sizes/shapes. Or you could rent a caliper piston press thing from any auto place, which would likely be as much as a buying a c-clamp.

Leave the old brake pad against the piston when you commpress the piston and put an old rag on outside of caliper to protect it from c clamp.
