Kz1100 Rear wheel locked up was created by Hotrod624
Ok so I got this 1983 kz1100 off of a friend that had taken the rear wheel off and never got around to putting it back or the new tire on it. So I have it now, I put the drive shaft and wheel back on, But now the rear is locked up. Before he took the wheel off, you could roll the bike around. So anybody have any idea's what it could be? The brakes are not locked up just in case someone throws that out.

Would double-check for correct assembly.
Lots of good info on kawasaki.com, including parts diagrams, part names, part numbers, models sharing same part, availability, etc. Here's a link for help with navigating the site and finding information.

I have checked it, I'm going to disassemble it again tomorrow just to make sure i didn't miss something. The final drive moved freely before I installed it. I did take a spring out and reinstalled it after I cleaned it up, that was in the shaft where the final drive connected to it. There isn't a certain way that goes in is there? I pulled it out and put it back in like it was.

FWIW, I've found these new fangled digital cameras/cell phones invaluable during disassembly. Doesn't help much now, but for future use perhaps!

I figured it out, the final drive was not connected correctly. I took it all apart and it now spins like a dream. Does anybody know what the torque is on the bolt that runs through the wheel?
