Installing Brake Caliper Boots was created by dshiplett
I am rebuilding the calipers on a 82 KZ750 Spectre. Is there a trick to installing caliper piston boots? i tried installing the boot in the caliper and cut the lip trying to insert the piston. Also tried to install on the piston but now can't seem to get it into the caliper.

I get the seal in the groove, then the boot in place, lube it good with sil-glide or fresh brake fluid. Then using compressed air, apply air to the line port while holding the piston up to the dust boot. It will blow up slightly like balloon, finally fitting around the piston.
Where safety glasses/ goggles and watch out if using brake fluid instead of sil-glide, it is corrosive and you don't want it in your eyes or on paint/ plastics.
