I can't get the exhaust not to block the oil filter. In te picture the clamp is knda blocking but I can move that, but the cross pipe doesn't allow me to pull the filter out. Is there any secret?

On mine I drop the filter down and then tilt it a bit forward to clear the pipe. Mine is a KZ650-C1, but the cross-pipe arrangement looks similar. Ed

On some of the large fours, it's possible to first remove or fully loosen the bolt, which allows shifting and manipulating the filter cover out and past the pipe.
After the usual crankcase draining, and before loosening the filter bolt, would also drain the filter (if there's a separate filter drain plug), so as to create less of a mess when loosening the filter cover bolt.
Appears to be a stock exhaust system, which would presumably allow for changing the filer without having to remove any part of the exhaust system.
Good Fortune!
EDIT -- Looks like no separate filter drain plug as on the large fours:

Thank you Ed. I thought it was wrong not to have enough clearance.

I recommend wrapping the connector pipe in aluminum foil or some other wrapper before pulling the oil filter cap off. Just to keep oil off the exhaust.
