There are some things i just won't buy on ebay and a chain is one of them. Got a D.I.D 525 VX - Gold with some Esjot diamond cut sprockets sitting on the bench - never tried DID or Esjot before - always RK and JT sprockets - never let me down - must have done at least 1/2 million km on them.

Mate been using RK for over 30 years - just never got around to trying a DID till now - (real pretty in gold on black sprocket).
It will wanna be a bloody good chain - $240 and the Esjots were $100
Will let you know what they are like.

I had the gold 630 O ring chain. The ones I've used were great but this one sat in the package for 15 years. That's why I bought a new one. The grease inside had dried out in that time so it started to kink and I could tell it was no good. Well the new one was made in China, so I didn't get 2000 miles before I had to replace it. Now I have a standard DID chain and I expect it to wear out soon along with the sprockets. I too will have to pay upwards of $300 for the package. Good luck with yours.

Being a tightarse (hope that has a similar meaning there ) about paying $340 - thats is pretty damn good really for where it will take me and being top quality.Looking forward to trying them Steve.
Have heard of Tsubaki Ed but have never seen anyone here with one on.Seems to be just RK and DID.
My original was an ENUMA MV-O - never seen one again,
Zeph.

That must have been stock. My 75 came with the O ring chain. Larry's 74 had the standard with the chain oilier. What a mess. I used to laugh at him and said he might as well have a HD. Look at that pool of oil you nasty boy. He got one like mine.

Steve never liked the idea of an auto chain oiler - too messy for my liking. Normally i clean with Kerosine ,Dry and lube inside and out with 90 W Diff oil - works very nicely indeed, Zeph.

Lots of guys I know use (and swear by) their chain oilers. Never had one myself but used Maxima "Chainwax" regularly after cleaning chain with kero. Chainwax tended to stay on/in the chain - very little if any "flingoff" if chain was clean and warm when wax was applied. I did some 60,000 km with chain and sprockets I put on and was plenty of life left in them when I sold the bike. Pic of bike before last ride (back in 2011) :( prior to sale.

I use DuPont Teflon chain lube, similar to chain wax like Weales describes, It is NON Oily & repels dirt, sand & road grime & is waterproof, sand ,dirt & road grime Is what shortens the life of chains & sprockets
